What’s Hot: Adaptive gear, summer fun and potty training

Jul 12, 2023Jul 12, 2023

New items this month help adults and kids get dressed easier, create a colorful memory to wear, play together, and tackle that summertime potty training.

Kizik shoes (kizik.com, see them in action online) are designed to be hands-free. They are ideal for getting kids out the door quickly, navigating airport security and fostering easy use for anyone who needs it. The shoes feature a patented heel design – slip your toes into the shoe, the heel will compress so your foot can slide all the way in and then once your foot is in, it will spring back into place securing your foot in the shoe. Prices vary, sizes and styles are available for kids and adults.

zipOns adaptive pants (befreeco.com) feature zippers on the legs from waist to hem. These mom-invented pants can be put on standing or laying down without having to pull the pants up over the legs, making them perfect for anyone with limited mobility. They can also be unzipped at the bottom to accommodate casts, braces and other medical equipment. Financial assistance is available. Youth and adult sizes are offered.

Summer screams for tie-dye fun. Tulip Color Crafts (tulipcolor.com, prices vary by kit) offers complete kits that are perfect for birthday parties, VBS, family reunions, camp fun and more. Add water, shake, and follow the instructions to create unique patterns that last. T-shirts are the traditional way to go here, but these are fun for swimsuit cover-ups, bags and all things summer. The glow-in-the dark kit is ideal for a sleepover activity. Colors are nontoxic and machine washable.

Pigs on Trampolines (playmonster.com/product/pigs-on-trampolines, $24.99, ages 6 and older), is a summer gigglefest waiting to happen. Pigs do fly here – right to their mudpuddle target.

Delta Children's PerfectSize 3-in-1 Potty (deltachildren.com/products/perfectsize-3-in-1-potty-made-with-recycled-ocean-plastic, $19.99) is made with recycled ocean plastics. This multi-functional potty chair serves the changing needs of toddlers-in-training. Use it first as a potty with a removable bowl. When ready, convert it into an adjustable toilet seat that works with most standard round and elongated toilets. When it is no longer needed for potty training, it can be used as a step stool for kids.
