C17 Crime Clips for Friday, June 9

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a brief summary of notable crimes that occured in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff's Office.

Crash, June 8, South Douglas Highway, GPD

Officers responded to the 1200 block of South Douglas Highway at 12:03 p.m. after a 38-year-old man on a motorized scooter was run over by a 46-year-old woman in a 2006 GMC, Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The two had been attempting to enter a parking lot when their vehicles collided. The 38-year-old man slid under the rear passenger-side wheel of the GMC, which ran over the scooter and his left leg. The man was transported to the hospital and the crash resulted in over $1,000 in damages to the scooter. No citations were issued.

Crash, June 8, East Boxelder Road, GPD

Officers responded to East Boxelder Road at 7:28 p.m. to investigate a two-vehicle collision involving an 18-year-old man in a 2010 Ford and a 23-year-old woman in a 2018 Subaru, Wasson said. The 18-year-old was westbound on East Boxelder and approached the entrance to Creative Beverages when the 23-year-old woman reportedly turned in front of him, resulting in a collision. The woman told officers that she thought she had enough space to turn into Creative Beverages and that the man intentionally sped up. Officers are awaiting video of the incident. The crash resulted in over $1,000 in damages.

Breach of peace, June 8, Dogwood Avenue, GPD

A 52-year-old man was tased and taken into custody by officers for breach of peace and interference following an incident on Dogwood Avenue around 9:22 p.m., Wasson said. The man reportedly got into an argument with three unidentified men and shouted profanities at a 45-year-old woman and her 45-year-old boyfriend when they intervened. The 52-year-old was located by officers and jumped a fence near a shopping center before running away. After he was located again, the man challenged officers to fight after they told him he was detained. He refused to comply after being placed under arrest, resulting in officers deploying a taser. The 52-year-old was transported to the hospital, where he was evaluated and cleared by medical staff before being taken to the Campbell County Detention Center.
